For every year of the challenge, I will be completing one unique Signature task. These extraordinary feats will either be world first's or have a personal note to them, such as putting the finishing touches to a school I helped fund in Sierra Leone (named after my late Mum) as part of Project School Mountain.
HONG KONG 7
The Signature 2017 event for EXPED 5050 took place in Hong Kong and consisted of seven key challenges with the emphasis being on endurance:
Happy Valley Racecourse Marathon - 26.2 miles around the world famous racecourse
A 50 minute fitness ‘beasting’ by players / coach of the HK National Sevens Team
The ICC Vertical Run - 82 floors, over 2100 steps to climb the highest building in Hong Kong
Bremont inspired ‘Run to the Peak’ - Run from the Bremont boutique to Victoria Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island
Complete the world’s highest Urban Tower Climb by climbing the outside of the Macau Tower - 338m above the ground
Summit the highest point on Lantau Island
Complete the world’s highest bungy jump off the Macau Tower
PROJECT SCHOOL MOUNTAIN
Sierra Leone - a multi-task expedition including putting the finishing touches to a school named after my late mum; summiting the highest mountain in the country and completing a jungle marathon. All whilst supporting the charity Street Child.
DUNKIRK TO POLAND
The biggest and toughest yet. Retrace my grandfather's POW route from capture at Dunkirk to his final POW camp on the Czech / Polish border. As the crows flies, its 750 miles, and I'll be running it!
TBC - the penultimate year.
TBC - As my 50th birthday will fast be approaching I wanted to do something to inspire activity in people of all ages.
